About Sun & Soil

Farm field

Our Story

Sun & Soil was founded by Phil and Marlee Stevens, inspired by the dream of a place where families can slow down, get their hands in the soil, and reconnect with the land and the food they grow.

Together, they created this program to offer a welcoming space for children and families to connect to where their food comes from through - growing, sharing, and the joy of food.

This first year is a launch year, and families who join are helping shape the program as it grows.

Meet Phil & Marlee

Phil Stevens

Phil Stevens

Phil Stevens is a father, farmer, nutritionist, musician, and Tai Chi instructor dedicated to cultivating both physical and inner well-being. He spent several years managing a farm, learning deeply from the land, connecting with plants, and understanding the rhythms of food from seed to table. With a deep respect for the earth, he practices regenerative farming and draws on his nutrition expertise to honor food as medicine. As a Tai Chi instructor, he guides others in mindfulness and movement, fostering balance, resilience, and a holistic approach to health.

Becoming a father has brought these paths together, deepening Phil's desire to create spaces where children and families can connect through food, movement, music, and meaningful work on the land.

Marlee Stevens

Marlee Stevens

Marlee Stevens is a mother, teacher, and therapist. She works with children and families, supporting growth, self-expression, and emotional well-being through play, creativity, and connection.

Before becoming a therapist, Marlee spent several years as a preschool teacher, where she discovered how children flourish when given space to move, explore, and connect with the natural world. She also completed chef training at the Nutrition Therapy Institute, bringing a love of wholesome, nourishing food to her work with families.
