Sun & Soil is a place for families to come together each week to grow food, spend time on the land, and learn alongside one another. Children and caregivers work side by side - planting, tending, harvesting, and enjoying food together.
This is the first year of the program. Families who join are helping launch and shape something new, built around community, care, and connection to land and food.
What Families Gain From This Experience
Time together on the land, growing food side by side
Confidence and comfort for children working with soil, plants, and weather
Practical skills like planting, watering, harvesting, and caring for living things
A sense of rhythm and belonging that comes from returning each week
The joy of watching food grow and sharing it together
Connection with other families learning and growing together
Plus, each week includes:
Fresh, seasonal vegetables to take home & a shared farm snack of seasonal vegetables and fresh sourdough bread
How the Program Works
Families gather once a week for a 2-hour morning on the farm. Each gathering follows a familiar rhythm that helps young children feel grounded and at ease.

A typical gathering includes:
- Arrival and opening circle with a seasonal song or verse
- Hands-on farm work (planting, watering, harvesting, observing)
- A shared farm snack of seasonal vegetables and fresh sourdough bread
- A short seasonal story or reflection
- A closing song or gratitude moment
Caregivers stay and participate alongside their children.
Growing & Harvesting Food
Families receive plant starts at the beginning of each session and care for them together over time. Throughout the season, families harvest and take home produce as it becomes available.
While there is plenty of food to share, the focus of the program is on relationship — to the land, to food, and to one another. The vegetables grow out of shared work, care, and time spent together.
